ADA MWANGOLA
Board Chair
Ada is a social development expert with over 20 years of experience in Government and development agencies ranging from national to international. She is currently the Director of the Social and Political Pillars of Kenya Vision 2030 Delivery Secretariat. Ada holds a Master of Philosophy in Development Studies from the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex, UK, and an M.A. in Sociology and Industrial Relations and a Bachelor of Commerce from Nagpur University, India. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Organisational Leadership at Panafrica Christian University. Ada has great interest and passion for initiatives that make positive impacts to livelihoods in the African continent. Her strength is in policy formulation and she is excited to lead Ujamaa as we scale ETT to all of Kenya.
JAKE SINCLAIR, MD
Founder
Jake is a San Francisco-based Pediatrician and Founder of Ujamaa – Africa. He is an entrepreneur who developed innovative models of healthcare delivery including the largest Hospitalist Group and the first Pediatric Urgent Care integration with private physicians in the USA. He has been working to develop evidence-based models to care for high-risk youth for the past 20 years. As a survivor, he is a passionate advocate for young victims of domestic and sexual violence and has developed successful Youth Empowerment programs in the USA and Africa.
BENJAMIN OMONDI MBOYA, MSC
Board Secretary
As the Executive Director of Ujamaa Africa, Benjamin leads Ujamaa’s school-based program which teaches empowerment defense to girls and gender transformation programs to boys in Kenya, Malawi, Somalia, and South Sudan. Over the past 6 years, he has co-authored several research papers in collaboration with JHU, Stanford, and the United States International University (USIU) studying the effectiveness of this unique dual-gender approach for preventing violence against women and girls. In addition to an undergraduate degree in public health, he holds a Master’s degree in Biometry from the University of Nairobi, School of Mathematics and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at Karolinska Institute.
DAWN NAKANO
Board Member
Dawn has over 20 years experience facilitating program and curriculum development in the education, environmental and civic engagement sectors. After almost a decade conducting public policy research at think tanks in Washington DC, Dawn honed her skills as a process facilitator for multi-stakeholder initiatives involving teachers, schools, non-profits/NGOs, and city and government agencies. Having launched multiple non-profit start ups, Dawn also has extensive non-profit management and fundraising experience.
JANE WANGITHI

Jane is a passionate and dedicated teacher with over 20 years of experience in the Kenyan public school system. For the past 12 years she's served as a Senior Teacher and Head of the Guidance and Counseling Department. She is currently Deputy Principal at Our Lady of Mercy Secondary School in Nairobi. Having witnessed first-hand the power of Ujamaa's work in her school, she is committed to sharing her wealth of experience in curriculum development and implementation in our countrywide scale up.
PRASEDE KIHORO

Prasede is a passionate and dedicated Senior Teacher with over 30 years of experience and serves as a Curriculum Specialist for persons with disabilities in the Teachers Service Commission. She is a Commissioner in the Catholic Justice And Peace Commission and is a Youth Counselor at the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi. Prasede is passionate about empowering young adults through mentorship and is committed to sharing her wealth of experience in life skill training and sexual reproductive health.
PALOMA CARBONEL ROBERTS
Board Member
Paloma is an educator with a focus on trauma recovery. In addition to her teaching credential from UC Berkeley, she is trained in Spinefulness somatic healing and has a wide ranging clientele in Silicon Valley helping adults and children with trauma recovery through body work. As a survivor, Ujamaa’s work to prevent rape resonates deeply with both her personal and professional commitments.
DENNIS PAGE
Board Member
Dennis Page is West Coast Manager of Operations at KKR, a leading global investment firm headquartered in Silicon Valley. His professional life has ranged from restaurateur to wildland firefighter. Outside of his professional life, Dennis is a dedicated youth sports coach and mentor in the Bay Area. He is currently a coach with San Francisco Golden Gate Rugby Club.

Justice Onguto Was Promoted To The High Court Of Kenya Two Years Ago And Has Written Several Important Kenyan National Policy Briefs Since That Time. He Chairs Several Important National Oversight Committees Including Social Welfare And Judiciary Review. Justice Onguto Has Long Been A Passionate Advocate For The Underserved In Kenyan Society And A Champion Of Justice And Empowerment For Vulnerable Women And Children.
